The Family of Miners

The Family of Miners.

The images from this archival collection were recently used in the BBC1 programme ‘The Miners Who Made Us’

A lovely affordable little A5 booklet of imagery taken by Welsh documentary photographer Walter Waygood.

A collection of photographs recently purchased by the National Museum of Wales and on permanent display at the Big Pit Blaenafon, National Mining Museum.

Beautiful images that represent the humour and camaraderie of men who worked in this harsh and dangerous environment.

These photographs were taken in the 1970s early 80s with a large format 5×4 Gandolfi camera. The underground images were taken with a TLR Rolleiflex, as a result we have high quality pictures which portray and celebrate an industry that formed such an important part of our social history.

This book would be a useful resource aid for photography / art and design students, an addition to an historical collection or simply as a gift to remember the men whose individual characters are portrayed in this archival collection.

The photographers website has been recently archived by the National Library of Wales.
